Learn what qualifies a stock as a Dividend King with 50+ years of consecutive dividend increases.

Dividend Kings

Dividend Kings are companies that have increased their dividend for at least 50 consecutive years - half a century of unbroken growth.

The Criteria

Unlike Aristocrats, Kings don't require S&P 500 membership. The only requirement is 50+ consecutive years of dividend increases.

Rarity

There are fewer than 50 Dividend Kings in existence. These companies have maintained growth through:

  • Multiple recessions (including 2008 financial crisis)
  • Inflation periods (1970s-80s)
  • Industry disruptions
  • Wars and geopolitical events

On Dividend.Direct

Stocks with 50+ years of growth receive a "King" badge, the maximum Quality Score for growth streak, and appear in our Kings screen.
